Strength & Growth Comes Only Through Continuous Effort
We formed back in 2018 out of frustration that club owners across the United States didn’t have a voice with our own National Governing Body. The relationship we have formed has been appreciated, and we welcome the open communication. What we don’t appreciate is the fact that innocent people are getting destroyed due to false complaints and abuse of the Safe Sport process. An accidental injury in a gym can become a lawsuit, an accidental injury in the gym should not involve a Safe Sport complaint about a business owner who was not even present in the facility at the time. Safe Sport was formed to keep young athletes safe, there is no doubt we support that mission. Please support our mission to keep EVERYONE in our industry safe. Safe from abuse, safe from losing their livelihood, safe from social media slander. Our voices are louder together, we know we are speaking for the majority.
That said, here are the highlights of our most recent communications with USAG:
USAG has updated the language on their website to further clarify the “interim measure is not a finding of misconduct” and also changed the title of the column listing the restriction type to “Action Taken” instead of “Suspension Type/Interim Measure”.
They have also expressed that their time to close cases and appeals is shorter now, approx 30-120 days.
We asked for a better outline of their investigation process and procedures. They provided this documentation here: https://usagym.org/PDFs/safesport/procedures.pdf
They can’t remove Kevin Mazeika from the suspended list until the Center gives them the authority to at this stage, however, we will continue to push this initiative forward through the proper channels.
